In fact, it makes us more vulnerable as we have double the national average of independent and local retailers. Jane Shaw, owner of Craft Days on the High Street was interviewed by Look East and featured on that evening’s programme. They talked about the importance of getting the right balance of marketing online as well as creating a great experience for people coming into the shop. Jim Brewin, BID Chair also attended one of the workshops.  Afterwards he said; “We have a wide range of attractions from the historic to the modern and a fantastic variety of shops too. The Google event on Friday gave retailers a great opportunity to see what is possible, and to make the most of the internet to compete in this market. We are very grateful to Kemi for arranging this event.”

We are excited to have been given the democratic mandate to work together so we can better realise the potential for Saffron Walden’s businesses with this major investment over the next five years.  I have no doubt the BID will make a real difference in our town and help businesses to thrive. Working together is the way forward.
