Prize Draw Winner Number Three…It pays to shop locally!
Congratulations to Sandy Banham, this week’s winner of the Shopping Prize Draw picked by David Reed from Angela Reed Furniture and Fine Things, and presented by Micky Crisp, from The Golden Butterfly.
The weekly Shopping Prize Draw gives the winner £100 voucher to spend in any of the 55 participating shops and businesses until Jan 31 2019, based on a minimum £5 spend. Businesses in Saffron Walden are focused on ways to attract and encourage residents and visitors to spend time and money here. The Shopping Prize draw run by the Saffron Walden BID helps support this.
According to the recent The British Retail Consortium Footfall survey*, footfall in November fell by 3.2 per cent, compared to an increase last year of 0.2%. With a third of the money spent on non-food items online in November, Black Friday has accelerated the movement to internet shopping in the lead up to Christmas.
Internet shopping is a such big challenge to high streets and town centres such as ours, and we need to do everything we can to keep it vibrant and growing.
“We have so much to offer as a heritage Market Town. If you live locally or are visiting, Saffron Walden is a much bigger draw than many of the nearby towns. Our town is great due to its interesting range of independent shops (twice the national average), its compact layout, the market and the fact you can pretty much do all your Christmas shopping here. We are participating in The Shopping Prize Draw because it’s a great way to encourage people to come back, shop and promote the town to their friends and family.” David Reed, Angela Reed Furniture and Fine Things
