The sense of place that people feel about a beautiful market town like Saffron Walden is powerful – and beats how people feel about a brand like Amazon. Here’s the Director General of the Institute of Directors Jon Geldart explaining this further to our local business.
We were recently thrilled to have the Director General of the Institute of Directors Jon Geldart speak to our local businesses. He told us that thinking local is a habit we’ve all formed over the past year, and that provides big opportunities for Saffron Walden.

GOOD LUCK to everyone opening their doors today after a long few months. We hope you’re rushed off your feet and you bounce back quickly! Here are some positive and encouraging words from around town. Shop Local. Shop Safe. Support Saffron Walden.
With just a few days until #SaffronWalden businesses begin to reopen their doors once again, we popped in to the hub of creativity that is Craft Days to see how Jane is getting on with her preparations. Sustainability and protecting the environment have been a massive focus for her over the past weeks.
Next up in our #SaffronWalden business recovery conversations is our very own BID team’s Julie Redfern who also runs Beauty Box. We asked her how her reopening prep is going and how she thinks our town centre will fare over the coming weeks and months.
As we prepare to reopen our #SaffronWalden, we are throwing a spotlight on local businesses and finding out what they’re up to. Charlotte from The Cross Keys will begin serving pints outside from 12th April, she’s got a lot planned, and she joined us for the first of our mini business recovery conversations.
We challenged our Shara to list the help available for Saffron Walden’s businesses as we prepare to reopen – in under 60 seconds! Could she do it…
