Saffron Walden Invites Tour Groups

Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre (TIC) and Saffron Walden Business Improvement District (BID) joined forces recently to promote Saffron Walden at the annual Excursions Exhibition at Alexandra Palace, London.

The Exhibition is aimed at the lucrative group tour market, with attendees ranging from coach tour operators and social club secretaries to historical groups, WIs, and gardening societies. Attracting this market to Saffron Walden is a key target for both the TIC and the BID and, with this in mind, a special offer has been created for potential groups: by pre-booking a coach party with the TIC, that group will be offered a free ‘meet and greet’ service along with vouchers to spend in local shops, free coach parking and a lunch voucher for the driver.

Mark Starte, TIC Duty Manager, said “I am very grateful to the BID for sharing the cost of attending Excursions and I am pleased to report that as a result of our new initiative, we already have 3 coaches booked in to visit Saffron Walden.”

Louise Scutt-Richter from the BID team added “It was really good being there together promoting our town. I am looking forward to welcoming visitors with a ‘meet and greet’ and point them in the direction of the great things our lovely town has to offer.

Saffron Walden TIC is funded by Saffron Walden Town Council.
