Our town is not immune from the threat to the UK High Street from internet shopping. In fact, it makes us more vulnerable as we have double the national average of independent and local retailers. Jane Shaw, owner of Craft Days on the High Street was interviewed by Look East and featured on that evening’s programme. They talked about the importance of getting the right balance of marketing online as well as creating a great experience for people coming into the shop. Jim Brewin, BID Chair also attended one of the workshops. Afterwards he said; “We have a wide range of attractions from the historic to the modern and a fantastic variety of shops too. The Google event on Friday gave retailers a great opportunity to see what is possible, and to make the most of the internet to compete in this market. We are very grateful to Kemi for arranging this event.”
